Medical Massage For The Oncology Patient
In this interactive and challenging course, our instructors discuss the important facts of understanding the many facets of Oncology Massage. Using the “who, what, when, why, how” teaching model our instructors discuss the following; who uses Oncology Massage, what Oncology Massage is, what cancer is, the various effects of cancer treatments, the concept and application of Oncology/LDM, common medications related to cancer treatments as well as the importance of understanding how to use the “decision tree model” in developing a safe and effective Oncology Massage care plan, as well as the importance of effective communication with the client/patient and physicians.
Our instructors will also discuss the indications and contraindications of Oncology/LDM, the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, the history and theory of lymphatic drainage massage (LDM) known as the Vodder technique, (developed by E. Vodder Ph.D.), and the techniques and applications of Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) as it applies to the Oncology Patient.
