Science of the Clinical Application for Aromatherapy

In this interactive and challenging seminar, you will learn the science and clinical application of Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of the body, mind and spirit.

It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process. When incorporated into the massage setting, both client and practitioner will benefit from the oils’ therapeutic properties.

This two-day class seeks to give the massage therapist an enhanced understanding of carrier oils, lotions, inhalers, and therapeutic essential oils. Students will work with 11 different essential oils, with an emphasis on helping to relieve symptoms associated with muscle pain and spasms, insomnia, and stress and anxiety. In addition, the class will examine how to make your massage room a “green environment”.

Case studies will lead to the production of massage oil blends that each student will “make and take”. Therapists will become familiar with the safety guidelines associated with each oil and they will be understand which oils will enhance their massage techniques and setting.

This is a “hands-on class”. Participants will work with individual case studies, and they will leave with 4 unique products which they have made and which can be incorporated into their massage practice.

Cost for materials: $40.00.

Full booklet handouts and safety regulations will be distributed.

This class is presented as 14 or 16 continuing education hours.
