Instructor: Sterling Richards

Sterling Richards, Exercise Physiologist, NCAA All American Athlete, Physical Therapy student and Licensed Massage Therapist will introduce attendees to sports massage techniques used when treating an injured athlete.

This seminar combines the techniques learned from Swedish massage and clinical treatment of injuries. The muscular skeletal system evaluations will help with defining the limitations of the injury as well as the stage of injury and healing. In this course the student will expound on the sport specific techniques they have already developed in order to treat athletes in all stages of their injury and recovery process.

Students will perform posture analysis, evaluate joint mobility, determine abnormalities in joints and learn how to execute orthopedic tests used for evaluation. At the conclusion of the course the student will be able to determine the limitations of the injury that athlete is experiencing, the stage of the injury/recovery and develop a treatment plan to help the athlete return to performance.
