Learning about massage therapy and Oncology medicine takes more than just researching this topic on the internet. It takes years of practical experience as well as conducting investigative research about Oncology Medicine and working first hand in a clinical setting with leading Oncologists and Hematologists. That is what you will learn from Chiropractic Physician, SOMI Certified Medical Massage Practitioner/Trainer, Licensed Massage Therapist Dr. Cullers.

Dr. Cullers has spent over 6 1/2 years in an Oncology/Hematology clinical setting and has invested hundreds of hours performing investigative research regarding massage therapy and the Oncology patient.

In this interactive and challenging course, Dr. Cullers discusses the important facts of understanding the many facets of oncology massage. Using the “who, what, when, why, how” teaching model, Dr. Cullers will share the many facets pertaining to this topic; who uses oncology massage, what oncology massage is, what is cancer, the various effects of cancer treatments, when massage therapy should and should not be performed, as well as the concept and application of Oncology/LDM and common medications related to cancer treatments. Additionally, you will learn the importance of understanding how to use the “decision tree model” in developing a safe and effective Oncology Massage care plan and the importance of effective communication with the client/patient and physicians.

Dr. Jeff Cullers will also discuss the indications and contraindications of Oncology/MLD, the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, the history and theory of Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage (MLD) known as the Vodder technique, (developed by E. Vodder Ph.D.), and the techniques and applications of Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage (MLD) as it applies to the oncology patient.
